On
May 3, 2012, the Arcadia
High School PTSA joined with other PTA units
across the nation by participating in the Honorary Service Award Program.
Honorary Service Awards are given to individuals in special recognition of
outstanding service to children and youth. Through the funds donated to the
Honorary Service Program on behalf of those individuals honored today, scholarships
and grants are provided to further the education of young people, as well as to
further the professional education of those working in areas affecting children
and youth.
When we presented these California State PTA awards, we sought not to distinguish between our volunteers but, through individual recognition, to reward the whole community for the outstanding service they provide to our community. For we all know that none of the PTA's achievements could have been possible without the collective support, dedication, and involvement of parents, teachers, and people who care about children. Today's PTA members, some 5 million strong nationwide, know the power of association. The Arcadia High School PTA has presented these awards since 1953. This year we recognized Suwannee Chew, Castalia Chan, Paul Kalemkiarian, Sandra Kalemkiarian, Dana Beckon, and John Finn for their service and dedication to our school and mostly to our students. |
