PTSA Meeting Minutes, May 3, 2007
President Lori Phillipi called the meeting to order at 10:20am and welcomed everyone. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ruth Lagace. An inspirational message was read by Sawsan Andrawis, titled “What an American is”. Welcome of special guests was made. Special guests in attendance were mentioned: School Board Member, Joann Steinmeir, Administrators, David Vannasdall, John Tipton and Catherine Merel, and Senior Class Counselor Kathy Rapkin. Clip boards for the following were past around: Chairman Signups, Roster, Apache Day Volunteer, Summer Mailer, and Library Volunteers.
- A motion was made by Kay Kinsler to approve the agenda, it was seconded by Ruth Lagace and passed.
Business Meeting
President’s Report-Lori Phillipi asked that all Procedure Books be turned in as a soon as possible. She also let everyone know that they can stock up on scrip for the summer. Following the next PTSA meeting there will be a Parent to Parent meeting on College Search (How to survive it!) and then from 12:00 -2:00 a Parent to Parent on Transition to College. This will include portion will include lunch. If interested in attending the second half please RSVP to Lori at lphillipi@roadrunner.com
- A motion was made by Kay Kinsler to approve Council Delegates Ruth Lagace and Mei Tan, it was seconded and carried.
Recording Secretary: Stephanie Harvey- It was reported that copies of the April minutes have been sent electronically to all whose address are on file, and the minutes have been approved by committee and filed for audit.
Treasurer’s Report: Ruth Lagace- reported and ending balance of 5-3-07 is $7,490.36. There were no questions; the report will be filed for audit.
- A motion made by Kay Kinsler to ratify checks # 1030-1037, the motion was seconded and passed.
Administrator Report:
David Vannasdall – Principal: David thanked Lori and all the parents for there help. He stated that when you surround yourself with good people good things will happen.
He then recognized Lori Phillipi and Kay Kinsler for there work with PTSA.
Officer and Chairmen Reports
Scholarship- Terry Leahy announced the recipients of the AHS PTSA scholarship Winners: Scott Andreen, Nicole Chew, Ashlie Chan, and Ellen Hou.
Historian Report:Janet Chew reported that she recorded 25,804 hours. She broke it down for us to look at from monetary view point. At 20.36 an hour we would have earned $525.369.44. She also presented a “Historical Visual” poster.
- A motion was made by Kay Kinsler to send Christine Lee and Ophelia Ha to the PTSA Convention, it was seconded by Terry Leahy and passed.
The Honorary Service program, Installation of officers and the acknowledgment of Graduating Parents followed.
Next meeting will be Thursday, June 7 at 8:30am in the Apache Pit.
